I wished I gotten this book last year during Fall 2014. I would have passed the class. I wished I had purchased this book first day of class during Spring 2015 when I repeated the class. I would have passed all my quizzies, my tests. I would not had struggle the way I did. This book help me for my final, when I look at the final, I said Omg I know this. I did pass the class with a C. To some that is nothing. To me that is a lot I can transfer this grade to a 4 year college.

My kids recognize the topics and the practice questions. The answer/solution explanation section is thicker than the question part, showing that the explanation is comprehensive. I used to get them Glencoe (because the textbooks were) without the answers, but now I know there was no need. This "For Dummies" series has come a long way and I think it is the best of these practice publications.

Daughter in grade 12 pre calc started using it right away and had fun beating the average scores. Then she went to class the following day and answered a class problem before anyone else. It was something she figurd out on her own solving the problems in this book. Can't beat that. Confidence is a wonderful thing. The online component is solid and makes it more engaging than a boring old book.

Less than expected. Explanations are not well worded, the answers themselves are sometimes misleading. For some unknown reason, sometimes they would completely simplify, other times they would have not quite finished simplification which leads to most of my time trying to find where they stopped in their answer rather than advancing myself. I didn't have much to compare this too, besides some sites that were on the top of my web searches. I can't say this is a bad book, but only recommended as a supplement.

So, I was under the impression that this was a pre clac "textbook" with practice problems. Was it is, is a problem book with explanations of how to solve the problems contained therein. This could be a good asset if you are currently taking a class and need practice problems to augment your current curriculum but for a self taught book of pre calc basis this is not what you want. It is a problem book period. BTW Amazon made it VERY easy to return, I give them five stars.

Great extra problem sets. Very handy to have for worksheets to give as assignments when students are confused on a topic. Good for review for a teacher who hasn't taught the subject for a while also.

Was a wonderful rescue for my son his freshman year of college! Provided repetitive questions to help him feel more comfortable before tests.

I am very new to studying Sikhism and have been reading many different books. I didn't want any more books about its history or basic outlines of the religion or books mired in Indian/Punjab culture so when I ordered this book, I was hoping for something different. I was looking for "spiritual" reading, something which would help me to live the teachings and not just to know them intellectually. I wanted a book which would elaborate on the gurus' writings contained in the Adi Granth. It was time for me to mentally organize the scriptures with the religion in order to bring a synthesis and better understanding. I was not disappointed with this book; in fact, my goals were completely met.The authors are western academics with much knowledge of their respective fields. They bring a modern and western approach to Sikhism which makes the teachings accessible to western minds. Their goal it seems to me is to provide a scriptural support for the living of the gurus' teachings. The book makes a case for the applicability of the teachings to contemporary lifeThe contents are:-Introduction-Japji-Impermanence: the gift and curse of time-Asa ki Var-Mind, Self and Ego-Siddh Gosht-Ethical Being: Action and Grace-Anand Sahib-Guru as Word: The Location of Authority-Shabad Hazare-Communicating Ecstasy: Knowledge and Non-Knowledge-ZafarnamaEach chapter has a short introduction with a brief one line summary of each part of the scripture used. These summary statements show how the scripture applies to the chapter heading and gives a great understanding of a way to live.I do not speak Punjabi but I think that the translation is vibrant and alive. It was easy to read and had a feel of authenticity. I liked the way it flowed, almost poetically. Of all the translations of the Adi Granth I've read, I like this the very best.I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a modern, western and practical approach to these spiritual teachings.

Nicely articulated but would not recommend for someone wishing to understand and find applicability of the Sikh teachings. I have personally found other English translations of Guru Granth Sahib to be more beneficial and in alignment with what is found in the original scripture and that being practiced by believers of the Sikh faith.
